A lecture and research project dedicated to history of African American dance and performance. Born at AmIJazz? Festival at Closer, within the education program ЗВУК (SOUND) in 2016, it has been evolving along Alina's doctoral research on post-colonial and performance studies at the University of Barcelona's department of comparative literature.
Apart from single-time lectures and talks, Sound from the Cat's Corner exists as a weekly live online lectorium. It is dedicated African-American vernacular dance and performance, its theory, history and perspective. Edited by Alina Sokulska, it is based on the opinions and research of the leading scholars in African-American dance and performance studies.
